Career Conversations let you connect with industry professionals who used to study at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington (alumni), to ask your career questions and learn more about working life, without signing up for an ongoing mentoring programme.        
    

ELIGIBILITY

This free programme is open to all current Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington students aged 18 and over.
All students are required to read and agree to the student conduct and expectations when submitting an application.      

How to join Career conversations

 1. Apply 
Applications are open all year. We'll review your application and aim to get back to you within 7 working days.       
     
2. Complete your profile      
Once accepted, add a few details about your study, your career interests, and the questions you want to explore in your career conversations.       
     
3. Review profiles, send a request, wait to hear back      
Once your profile is set up, you can look through alumni on the platform. You will also get alumni recommendations based on your shared interests or industries. Send a conversation request to alumni who seem like a good fit. They choose to accept or decline your request.      
     
4. Agree on a time and prepare for your conversation      
If your request is accepted, agree on a time and a place to met (online or in person). Come prepared to the meeting with your questions and check whether the alum would like you to prepare anything else ahead of the conversation.       
     

About The alumni

Alumni on the platform might include recent graduates who have experience of the graduate job market, as well as experienced professionals with years of insights (sometimes across industries) to share. They're based across Aotearoa New Zealand and around the world, and work in a wide range of industries.

Your profile information

Parts of your profile will be shared with the alumni you request a meeting with, so they can see whether they’re the right person to help. Some details — like your date of birth — are only visible to administrators.
