Career Conversations gives Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington alumni a flexible way to share their professional experience with students, without the commitment of an ongoing mentoring partnership.
Eligibility
All Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington alumni, from any discipline, are welcome to apply.All students and alumni are required to read and agree to the Alumni conduct and expectations when submitting an application.
How to join career conversations
1. ApplyApplications are open year-round and reviewed on a rolling basis. We aim to process applications within 7 working days. You will be notified as soon as your application is accepted.
2. Complete your profile
Add information about your background, set your preferences, and indicate your availability. This helps students find alumni whose experiences and preferences align with their questions.
3. Review requests
You will be notified by email when a student request a conversation. You can choose to accept or decline. Students are asked to outline their questions in their profiles so that you can assess whether you're the right person to support them.
4. Arrange the conversation
Once you accept a request, agree on a time and whether you'll meet online or in person. Let the student know if you would like them to prepare anything in advance.
About the students
Career Conversations is open to all current Te Herenga Waka students over the age of 18. Students across disciplines and years of study are welcome to apply.Applications open soon

YOUR PROFILE INFORMATION
Your profile details (name, location, background, motivations, LinkedIn) are visible to students and alumni on the platform. Only students can request conversations, though anyone can contact you through channels you publicly share.Your email address is shared with a student only after you accept their request. All information you provide—including your date of birth and your activity on the platform—is visible to programme administrators.
